Between 6 p.m. Friday, November 6, and 4 p.m. Sunday, November 8, the center of downtown Delray Beach is the Old School Square campus at 51 N. Swinton Avenue. The First Friday Art Walk includes the Cornell Art Museum on its list of stops. On Saturday the Delray Beach GreenMarket and the Cornell's Art on the Square Fine Art Show both run on the same historic grounds. On Sunday the art show has the lawn to itself.
There is a four-hour stretch on Saturday when both crowds are on the campus together, and no streets are closed for it. That stretch decides when you go, where you park and how you get home.
The Downtown Delray Beach First Friday Art Walk is a self-guided tour of galleries and studios, held on the first Friday of every month. It runs 6 to 9 p.m. on November 6. There is no set route. The Downtown Development Authority publishes a list of participating venues, and for November it includes:
The November listing highlights two shows at Arts Garage, "Beyond the Frame" and "Sonder," along with the Cornell's current exhibitions. The museum's rotation is long-running this season. "River of Grass" and "Blooming in Color!" are up through January 24, 2027, and Ron Garrett's retrospective runs through February 28, 2027. If you only see the Cornell on Friday, you have months to catch those shows again. The art show the next morning is a one-weekend event.
There is also a new stop between galleries. Boca Magazine reported on October 23 that Preface Wine, a wine shop and bar founded by Jonathan Frutkin, is now open at 279 N.E. Second Avenue in Pineapple Grove. Another opening is on its way. Boca Magazine's October 22 feature says Kapow Noodle Bar, with a Pan-Asian menu and late-night service, is moving into the former Salt7 space at 32 S.E. Second Avenue. The feature gives no opening date, so don't count on it for this Friday.
The GreenMarket is the oldest part of this weekend. The Delray Beach CRA started it in 1996, and it has been a Saturday fixture downtown ever since. Its 31st winter season opened October 24 on the Old School Square campus. It runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May 22, 2027, with more than 70 growers, makers and food vendors, and SNAP benefits are accepted. On November 7 it will be the market's third Saturday of the season.
Art on the Square is the newer arrival. Boca Magazine reported in March that the juried show ran six times between 2017 and 2020 and returned in March 2026 after a six-year break. It is produced by Cornell Art Museum Cultural Arts Director Marusca Gatto. So this November show is the second one since the comeback, and the first to land on a GreenMarket Saturday in the middle of season.
The Downtown Delray Beach event listing says the show will fill the museum's front lawn and Swinton Avenue with more than 60 juried artists from around the country. It also lists live music, a café serving wine, beer and small bites, pop-up art activities around the grounds, and an Emerging Artist Program that gives first-time exhibitors free booth space. Admission to the show and the Cornell is free.
Put the two schedules side by side and Saturday splits into three distinct windows:
| Saturday, Nov. 7 | What's running on the campus | What that window is good for |
|---|---|---|
| 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. | GreenMarket only | Produce, seafood and flowers before the art crowd arrives |
| 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | GreenMarket and Art on the Square | The busiest stretch, with both events and both sets of visitors |
| 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. | Art on the Square only | Browsing artist booths after the market vendors have packed up |
The DDA lists "cross-promotion with the CRA Green Market" among the show's highlights. Neither organizer has published a map showing where market stalls and art booths will go that morning. If you have a regular vendor, expect them to be somewhere on the campus but possibly not in their usual spot. The CRA says it posts any event-related changes on its GreenMarket page and social media.
The DDA says the art show requires no street closures and points visitors to paid parking in the Old School Square and Federspiel garages. So the usual downtown parking rules apply all weekend, and so do the usual rates. The Downtown Delray Beach parking page currently lists four tiers:
The City of Delray Beach page for the Old School Square Garage confirms the $1.50 rate and gives the address as 95 NE 1st Ave. At those rates, staying for the whole 10-to-2 overlap costs $6 in the garage and $16 at an Atlantic Avenue meter. The garage is also the spot closest to both events.
Freebee covers most of the weekend. The DDA describes it as a free, on-demand electric golf-cart service in the downtown area. It runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday. You book rides in its app or by calling (855) 918-3733. That covers the whole Friday Art Walk, which has no shuttle of its own. On Saturday, service starts at 11 a.m., so the market's first two hours and the art show's first hour fall before the first ride.
On Sunday, November 8, the art show runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with no GreenMarket and no Art Walk alongside it. It's the same artists and the same free admission to the Cornell, with fewer events on the campus. Freebee's Sunday service starts at 11 a.m., an hour after the show opens, and the garage is $1.50 an hour for anyone arriving early. If you skipped Saturday's crowds, or went to the market and ran out of time for the booths, Sunday is the easier day to see the show.
The Old School Square calendar keeps going after the art show packs up:
Holiday dates are posted too. The City lists its 100-foot Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration and Yuletide Street Fair for Tuesday, December 1, 6 to 9 p.m., with more than 60 vendors, food trucks, live music and Santa lighting the tree. Two days later, on December 3, the Cornell holds the opening reception for Helmut Koller's "KOLLERISM: 'Vivid & Wild,'" which is on view from December 4 through March 21, 2027. The December First Friday Art Walk falls the next night, December 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. That means the December Art Walk lands on the first day the Koller exhibition is open to the public.
Owning a home a few blocks from Old School Square means being close to an event calendar like this one all year. When you're ready to see what that location is worth in today's market, The JM Phillips Group will run a valuation built on downtown Delray sales and local context.
